Harvest is a busy, yet rewarding time of year for the Kitzke family.

Waking up every morning to the crisp air and feeling the first light warmth of the sun peaking through the vines. The smell of the vineyard and fresh cut clusters surrounds you as you pick the mature grapes that you have been nurturing the whole year for this perfect moment. Hoping that you captured the perfect balance of sugar & acidity to express your terroir.

Relieved that half of the process is over, we continue forward knowing the next steps of obsession are starting:  sorting, crushing, and monitoring fermentation.  This is a very time consuming yet magical process. Simultaneously tasting the wines throughout fermentation while waiting for that perfect balance of flavor & tannin before it is pressed into barrels for the next two years.

We put our all into the vineyards & cellar in hopes of sharing another amazing vintage with you. Thank you for your continued support and inspiration.  A big thank you goes out to everyone who volunteered their time to help us during harvest!  We can’t wait to share the vintages to come! cheers!

2015 was a big year for Kitzke Cellars, winning some of the Northwest’s top awards and we want to share them with you! Starting it off will be our estate grown 2010 Cabernet Franc, which won a Double Gold at the Seattle Wine Awards and Best of Varietal at the Tri-Cities Wine Festival. Next up will be our estate grown 2012 Malbec, that received a Gold at this years Seattle Wine Awards. Then its on to our 2010 estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine continues to outperform its price by far! Winning its 3rd straight Double Gold at the Seattle. Backing up all these Bordeaux varietals is our Syrah. This Syrah showcases our terroir perfectly with a great balance between earth and fruit, showing why it was deserving of a Double Gold at the Seattle Wine Awards as well.

Seth will be there answering any question you may have about our vineyards and winemaking practices.

CHEERS!

 2012 Janaina Sensacao Red
If you have stopped in the tasting room there is a good chance you have heard the story behind our Janaina Sensacao Red. Named after our adopted daughter from Brazil this wine (49% Cab, 29% Sangio, 14% Nebbiolo, 8% Petit Verdot) is a smooth drinker that works with the local Royal Family Kids Organization here is Washington. This year through your purchases and our annual Purse Action we raised just under $14,000 to help foster children in our area. Thanks for your help and lets continue to help kids that are less fortunate around us.
